"Our Story" from the proprietors of BeClaws Cat and Dog Shoppe:
OK, now that you've found us, you may be wondering who or what in creation is BeClaws?
Well, BeClaws is really Peggy and David, and their extended family of rescued cats and dogs.
This whole business of selling "stuff" with cats and dogs on it grew out of our rescue work.
(Peggy became so well-known in local circles for her neighborhood spay and neuter campaigns that men would actually cross their legs when she entered a room!)
Because of our involvement with animals, people began giving Peggy gifts with animal themes - first one pin, then more pins; then cookie jars, t-shirts, afghans, you name it. When a lack of room and resources dictated that we stop collecting live throw-aways, and our collection of "stuff" took over most of our house, we kind of figured that there must be other people like us who would appreciate these kinds of things, too.
So... we rented a store for the Christmas season and discovered that not only were we right about the interest in these products, but we also discovered another way to help homeless animals besides bringing them home with us.
We held adopt-a-pet days in our store. They worked so well and made us feel so good that the following year we did the same thing in two stores, and three stores the year after that.
Each year we met more incredible people doing fantastic work to improve the lives of dogs and cats in what would once have been hopeless situations.
Well... that's how we got here. Look for us in a few major malls in the New Jersey area each Christmas season, or right here on the Web all year long! We hope you will love the items we've put together for sale here in our on-line store. There are many more exciting products scheduled to arrive in the weeks and months ahead. We've been busy behind the scenes getting ready to launch a few of our own products and designs...so please check back often to see what's new. See you soon!! You can also contact us by email. We would love to hear from animal lovers everywhere!
